Lots going on this week, from a lovely review of The Zen Man to the best private detective blogs of 2012.
5 Star Review of THE ZEN MAN by MacKenzie Brown
Super review from MacKenzie Brown on Goodreads:
A fantastic read from start to finish. Reminded me a great deal of the works of Robert Crais and Robert B Parker. The story concerns Rick a recovering alcoholic and part time PI and a past that comes back to bite him on the backside, in the form of his ex-wife. When she is murdered at the home he shares with Laura he is accused of her murder and becomes embroiled in a race against time to clear his name. Superbly written and beautifully characterised, this is a fast paced thriller with one eye on a homage to the great noir thriller writers of the forties. I could not recommend this book more highly.

Praise for The Zen Man
"Great humor. Great dialogue. Author did a great job of establishing the relationship between Rick and Laura. It never overshadowed the mystery, but it made the book truly multi-dimensional."

"A real page turner. I enjoyed this book full of suspense and surprises. I have never read this author before but will look for her next surprise."

"I loved The Zen Man and really had fun catching Rick and Laura's first case in the prequel, The Ungrateful Dead. These novels have everything I love in a mystery: smart dialogue, a flawed hero, a little romance and a great plot. Murder at a coroners conference? What could be more fun!"
